UI Improvements/Look & Feel... is there a nicer theme?

Having used Discourse before, I was expecting a more polished UI.

Dark Mode in particular leaves a lot to be desired - particularly the reply/post dialog.

What’s the deal with theming? Is there an OSS “Umbraco” theme that we can contribute to - are there better themes that could be used as a baseline to bring us closer in quality to the docs site or Umbraco.com?

I’m working with our designer in a few weeks on themes. This was the closest “easy” one I could get working that is good for accessibility and didn’t require a lot of tweaking to get the colors looking “okay”.

Super! Until then, I think I’ll stick to light mode :sunglasses:

Looking at the Star Wars theme as an example (of course) it looks pretty straightforward to have a custom theme powered by an Open Source repo.

Might be a nice to be able to open it up for contribution - and maybe have some fun for holidays etc.

I do still have the assets for Arrr Umbraco.

I agree it would be nice to make things a bit more Umbraco

There is a way to add individual theme components, as well as an entire theme so it’s possible to update just the banner with some branding for example. This will be less likely to look out of place between Discourse version upgrades (an issue we had with one of our clients).

You can also make the themes selectable by the user, so if an Umbraco specific theme was created it could be opt-in or set as the default and then people can decide a different theme if they preferred?

Well aware of the possibilities, it wasn’t a showstopper for launching and then figuring that part out! But thanks for the references Thomas! :high-5-you-rock:
