Upgrade from Umbraco 11.3.1 to Umbraco 17.0.1

Hello,

One of the website I am using is in Umbraco v11.3.1. I need to update that to v17.1.

What is the recommended upgrade path? Should I install each versions between v11 and v17 one by one?

Is it possible to do a direct upgrade to v17 from v11? If not, is it possible to switch between different LTS version between v11 and v17?

What would be the right approach?

Any help is appreciated.

You should be able to go directly from 11 to 13.12.0, then from 13 to 17.

Make sure to read the upgrade notes specifically for 12 and 13, some small breaking changes in v12, some larger ones in v13: Version Specific Upgrades | Umbraco CMS

And then of course v17 has a whole new backoffice, so you may encounter breaking changes due to that.
