Umbraco 7.7.6 - When you select a content start node for a user group permission, you are unable to re-select root node

This is what appears:

In the code (c#), when you attempt to get the start node id’s from the user’s group. It returns an array with 1 item, the only item in the array is a null value.

Is this expected behaviour or is this a bug, does anyone know how to reset this to the root node?
