I have created a new Umbraco 17 site in Visual Studio and published a to a local web server - the site is working fine except i cannot edit or create templates either locally or on the server.
Any ideas what it could be ?
Can you give a bit more information. It is fairly normal to create a document type by choosing “Create - Document Type with Template”. Or you could create a template first. What steps are you taking? What happens?

It could be a file permission issue!
Share more info, exact what issue you are facing.
I have done some more investigation and it isnt all templates i cant edit - i installed the umbraco starter kit, its the Master from the starter kit i was attempting to edit. If i create a new document type with template I can edit that - also i can edit other starter kit templates its just the master I cant save after an edit
