Getting this error whenever I attempt to save or save and publish and of the content items
The local name for elements or attributes cannot be null or an empty string.

The error initially came up when I tried adding a new property to the document type (this was an error along the lines of Input string in incorrect format) and since then I have been unable to save any content.
Any help much appreciated
