Nested Block List Content Disappears When Copying Items Between Languages in Umbraco backoffice

Hi Amazing People,

I would like to clarify an issue with the Copy Block List Items functionality in the Umbraco 17.7.2 backoffice.

Our website supports two languages, English and Danish. When we copy a Block List item from the English version to the Danish version, and the copied item contains nested Block List items, the content of the nested items disappears.

Create a website in Umbraco 17.7.2 with two languages: English and Danish. 2. Create a Document Type with a Block List property. 3. Configure an outer Block List element type that contains another Block List property (nested Block List). 4. Create a content page in English and add an outer Block List item containing nested Block List items with populated content. 5. Save and publish the English page. 6. Open the Danish language variant of the same page. 7. Use the Copy Block List Items option to copy the Block List items from the English version to the Danish version. 8. Check the copied outer Block List item and its nested items. Expected result: The Block List items and their nested content should be copied from English to Danish, preserving the populated fields. Actual result: The content within the nested Block List items disappears after copying. 9. Save the Danish page and reopen it to check whether the nested content is still missing. ### Expected result / actual result _No response_

Is this the expected behaviour, or is there a known workaround or solution to preserve the nested Block List content when copying between languages?

Hi @NikhilPrajapati

Is the nested Block List element type invariant culture or does it vary by culture? I suspect it may vary by culture and is therefore being stored with a culture, so once you copy it the value is hidden as the culture does not match.

Are you able to compare the raw JSON for the block list before and after the copy to see if it contains any cultures?
