MVP the process And public debate

I’ve been a bit slack but now we have a little distance and more clarity from code garden
I was having a think about the mvp program and what we can do to help make it better

I originally asked this in the mvp channel and it was part of a post on the community advisory board

But I have finally found the time to summarise and make it a public forum

My original post

This is an opinion and is design to be shot to pieces

I am hoping this is something for the community advisory board and other board heads and MVPs
To weigh in on

1 to help the mvp process so we need a page on the documentation which highlights the paths and methods that can help you get nominations for a mvp

  1. What kind of things could invite people to apply and therefore commit to the community
  2. Should we have special award that we can give out for outstanding contribution
It could be for non umbraco ie charity is an obvious one but it could be for things in the community
The award should be special and no t necessarily have to be awarded every year

Call it terrence burridge award (subject to family approval)

We had a couple of responses
Specifically from the ever wise @HFloyd
Basically summed up to
Better process and more transparent process
Ie documentation

Here is heathers response

I was approached at Codegarden by a community member asking what they could do (as a non-developer) to qualify for MVP status. I guess making the process a bit more transparent could be good. I’m sure the DevRel committee who chooses MVPs and renewals would be able to make a list of the sorts of activities they are seeing on quality applications.

In terms of a special Community Award, I’m not against it, but keep in mind that any initiative requires investment/organization, so I would ask that we clarify the PURPOSE of giving out such an award. (What are we trying to incentivize?)
