How long is someone considered a "new" user?

On another post (Real Forum Content - #9 by HFloyd) I ended up stuck in error message hell…

I was told that as a “new user” I couldn’t put more than one screenshot in a post, then when I tried to add the extra screenshots in subsequent posts, I was told that as a “new user” I was not allowed to post more than 3 replies in a topic!?!

Considering that people will likely become a user because they have an immediate problem which needs solving, and we want to ENCOURAGE useful contextual material (like screenshots) AND we want people to be able to further engage when others reply with follow-up questions/suggestions… I think we need to consider lowering the bar here.

Interestingly, after posting this, I was "upgraded’ a trust level and sent this info:

What are everyone’s thoughts about these levels and the restrictions imposed?

And unrelated… but I was thinking it might make sense to add some “Community” tags:
“Questions about this forum”
“Community Involvement”

Good point! It’s to prevent spammers from going nuts on their first entry into the forum, but I have changed the default level to 1 for now.

If we do get a spam problem I can always tweak the settings for level 0 to allow for a bit more to be posted on their first try. :+1:

Additionally, I have surfacced the Meta channel and moved your post into it
