Is there any up to date add on to add "Cloudinary" to umbraco 17, I look in the add on section and can find one for Umbraco 14, but I assume this will not work with 17.
If this is the case can any one point me on the direction on how to override the media section so I can add my own media type to allow upload to "Cloudinary".

Are you referring to this?
It is marked as working for Umbraco 14, it may work on more recent versions but the author has not updated it if so. If it has the new backoffice, then it may be fine unless there are any breaking changes that cause it to not work.
In terms of adding a new media type, this can be done in the backoffice under Settings, but this won’t actually do anything for you - it just allows you to add custom properties to a media item and query/access them in code.
