Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has experience with running accessibility audits on an Umbraco website. There are external tools like https://www.accessibilitychecker.org but also packages like Accessibility Reporter, though I am not sure it works on Umbraco Cloud.
We are looking to make our website more accessible and there seems to be many ways to go about it, so was wondering if anyone has some good tips to share. Thank you!
Yes, we regularly do audits for our customers. Tooling is your first step and it takes care of most ‘static’, deterministic rules, like contrast, aria-labels etc. And those tooling is better than having no tooling at all.
But I suggest you stat with a training on accessibility. It’s really important to understand the ‘why’ instead of just running tools. You need to get into the head of the users that need the accessibility features.
And if you want to REALLY make your site accessible, you need to find an auditing partner. A lot of accessibility rules are open to interpretation that tooling simply can’t tell you. In our experience, it even matters which auditor you have

Luckily we understand the why and importance of accessibility - some parts already support the WCAG standard, but we have to go further. Out of curiosity, what tools do you rely on? Thank you!
I personally find this extension very helpful for doing some basic accessibility checks:
I know some community members actually use the Silktide platform to perform comprehensive automated accessibility tests. I’ve seen a demo, but I haven’t used it myself mainly due its pricing scheme which starts at €6.500 per year.
I can recommendt the Level Access chrome extension. We use it on multiple REALY large sites and after some audits from external ressources, they could’t find much
