Moving Umbraco Forms entries from one install to another

Hi there :waving_hand:

Is it possible to transfer Forms entries (submissions) from one Umbraco instance to another? E.g. when upgrading an old Umbraco 8 on Cloud, the final database will be in a new v17 Cloud project, so only the Forms and Workflows are transferred with Deploy - not the actual entries.

Is there a way to move them with UDAs or SQL?

Thanks :raising_hands:

Hi @greystate

The entries are just stored in the database, so you can export them using Generate Scripts in SQL Server Management Studio and select Data Only so you don’t get the schema. This assume you are copying between like-for-like versions though.

All of the records are in the UFRecords* tables.

You can then run the script it generates on your target database.

I’ve not tried this though…

Perfect - thanks :raising_hands:

I’ll try that. I have the correct version on my local machine, so I’m guessing it’ll work.

I might add in update a copy of the the v8 db locally against a vanilla v17 + v17 forms to make sure any forms migrations are applied to the records tables..
Might be less of a headache than trying to rerun migrations for v17 forms on the cloud instance?

Also a pity that MSSQLMgmt Studio is still required for easy data exports like this over Visual Studio Code and the SqlServer extension…

Thank Mike - that is indeed what I have done :+1:
