Does being not-sensible help? @warren
Nope. Reckon it’s just me ?!
I get notifications, but I’m Android
Oh well no big deal…
I should buy an Android next time
Ah… it’s an iPhone limitation… Notifications on mobile for Discourse Hub app - Support - Discourse Meta
For live iOS push notifications on non-hosted sites, check out Pushover notifications.
But…
Bear in mind, Pushover is a 3rd party (paid) app to deliver notifications to your iPhone. Aside having a plugin built for Discourse that delivers notifications through their app, we don’t have a relationship with that particular notification service.
Yeh I think its a iOS PWA thing I am guessing, as the app looks to be a wrapper of a browser view.
I am not that bothered now… but good to know its not gonna work for me for sure.
It’s more that the app needs to supply a certificate originating from the specific website instance. Discourse can of course automate all this for their own platform, but not for self-hosted instances. Nor should it trust self-hosted instances, could be a massive security problem if someone does it wrong (on purpose or not). Additionally, they could get banned from the app store when errors happen.
So their app can only use iOS functionality when they have full end-to-end responsibility.
You’ll get emails anyway, and desktop notification if you allow them
