I edited the Image data type and added a label (string) property for “Alt Text”. I then went to an existing image in the media library and selected a random image that was already uploaded. I can see the new property there and it is empty, but I can’t figure out how to edit the property. Is there a front end UI to edit this?
A label is a read-only property editor used for displaying information that usually set in code. But you can’t edit it in the backoffice.
For example, when we import things into Umbraco from an external source, you usually have some kind of identifier that comes with the important entity. Let’s say it’s a vacancy. We import those in code and we would store the vacancy id in a label property. This way, we can query it, we can see it in the backoffice, but we can’t edit or change it in the backoffice.
If you want a field that’s editable, you should just use a textbox property editor.
